VISCOUNT MANDEVILLE'S BANKRUPTCY. [Newspaper Article] — Ashburton Guardian — 24 May 1889

VISCOUNT MANDEVILLE'S BANKRUPTCY. Gable messages have informed us not only of the bankruptcy of Visoount Mandevlile (&on of the Duke of Manchester), but of the f aot that a charge is pending against him of obtaining money by false pretences. The London correspondent of the "Argue," writes : — " The affairs of Lord Mandeviile, the Duke of Manchester's son, have come to a oasis. He owes nearly £120,000, of which only £35,000 is scoured, or rather ranks against security, leaving £85,000 to be provided for by tome kind of miracle.
