THE JOURNAL. J. H. GREENH, ' 5 Editors A. Ok WILCOX. FKEMONT, OHIO. FRIDAY, ....... MAY 1 0, 1887 The Governorship. Last week we seconded the nomina tion of Gen. Garfield, Of course we : knew that he did not seek the honor, but it had been said he would not de cline it if tendered by the Convention. It was clear that Congress offered him- a more inviting field, and that if he had consented to ran for Governor it was on ly in response to a popular call, arising 'roni the recognition of his peculiar fit- i , , . . ,, ness lor leaaersmp in tne ensuing State canvass. At the risk of adding to the confusion of voices already heralding the claims of doxens of candidates, we venture anoth remark on the subject. . We have a Constitutional amend- - ment to carry this fall over the bitter enmity of the Democracy and the half- : hearted support or secret ...
