The advices arriving by the Inst boat indicate that the gubernatorial question in Hawaii is still mixed. Out of the hubbub it is heard that George R. Carter has been given a boom for the governorship. The Dole crowd which knows that Dole must go, have seized upon Carter as the proper person to step into the shoes of the "sphinx." It is reported that prayers have been offered up at the Central Union Church asking that Cnrter be given divine guidance on his mission to Washington. Providence made Hawaii a paradise in the beginning and it is doubtful whether any in terference at this day may rightly be expected from that quarter. Carter as Governor would mean no change from the Dole policy. Carter as Secretary would not hurt anything, neither would such an arrangement do any good. Hut as Governor, George R. Car...
