During the progress or the fire nt the AWulcnn thentre In Philadelphia, on Bmi day morning a week it wan ascertained that Frederick Neuman, of the Are patrol, was in the ruins. Search was instituted, and he could plainly be seen, but it was impossible to reach him. He was held down, lying upon his baclt, by a girder which hud caughtMiim about the shoulder. On the top of this was an immense pile of debris. He was called to and answered. A. number of men wanted to go into the building to rescue him, but the captain of the patrol held them back, fciriyg that more lives might be aacrifled, the walls bolug momentarily expected to fall.
