A. WOMAN BURNED TO DEATH. A woman named Catherine Seoten, residing in Glover-street, Enerald-hill, was yesterday thoe victim of a serious accident, which' caused her death. It appears that a Mrs. Sinnet wont to tihe residence of deceaseod early in tihe morn ing, and found her lying on the floor, witl her clothing on fire. With the aid of a neighbor sioe extinguished the flames, and sent at once for Drs. Cheet hlnm and Smyth. The deceased was subsequently taken to the Melbourne Hospital, where she arrived at .about hallf-pst ten. Dr. Barrett attended her, and found extensive burns on her body and linbs. Notwithstandingcareful tronea ment she gradually sank, and died two hours after admission. An inquest will be held.--d qe.

LILYDALE POLICE COURT. FRIDAY, 25TH MAY, 1883. (Before Francis Hare, Esq., P.M., and Messrs. John Lithgow, J. Rourke and R. de Castella, J.P.'S) A resident of Lilydale, named F. Wenker, was summoned for procuring ale and brandy for 'three aboriginals, Lanky Manton, Johnny Terricks, and Jacky Lowman, on the 19th of April last. Case postponed till next court day, the 29th June, to enable the de fendant to procure witnesses. Mr Sabelberg conducted the case for Wenker.   Mrs Rosanna Zobell (a married   woman, but separated from her husband) summoned James T. Cashin for   the support of an illegitimate child, of which she stated he was the father. Case dismissed, the Bench not deeming the evidence strong enough to prove the charge.
