THE Principal Superintendent of Con- victs having been freqently requested by Settlers, to whom Prisoners have been assigned, to keep them in the Public Works, until it would be convenient to send. for them ; by which Means great Irregularity and Confusion have arisen; The Lieutenant Governor has desired it shall be intimated, that, in all Cases of Application for Servants from Settlers at a Distance, some Resident in Hobart Town must be named who will receive the Men, or Women, on the Day of their Assignment.   By Command of His Excellency, W. -SUPREMECOURT, FRIDAY, JUNE 2," 1826. On Monday Mr. Farquharson was   put to the bar, on a charge of stealing   400 sheep of the value of £200, from Mr. , Benjamin Jones. He was led into Court along with John Webster, arraigned'upon   the same charge. The evidence for trial   prosecution occupied the Court four days   and on Thursday till a very late hour.   It appeared that Mr. Jones, who has a   large flock, at his farm at Jericho, missed 400-sheep in the beginning of April last.   In consequence of certain information   Constable Drummond, with* two servants of Captain Wood, went in quest of the sheep. In the course of the search He discovered a yard in an unfrequented part about three miles from Mr. Farquhar son's.
