STATE POLITICS. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SESSION. EARLY GENERAL ELECTION. [Newspaper Article] — Corryong Courier — 21 May 1914

STATE POLITICS. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SESSION. EARLY GENERAL ELECTION. Mr Watt (the Pivmu'r) has an nounced (says the An/us) that the State Parliament will reassemble on June 21th. In all probability :the session will bo a very short oney but tho Ministry is hopeful of securing a safe passage for several important' measures, including the Factories, the: Price of Gas, and the Charities, Bills. At the beginning of the session -the Minister for Labour (Sir Alexander Peacock) will move, under the Stand; ing Orders, that the Factories Bill- be submitted forthwith to the Council. Thereiare several contentious clauses to bo debated, and the Upper Chamber ■will be given ample time for their consideration. :; Last session' was nearly expired when the bill reached the Council, and the temporary shelv ing of it was, in the circumstances, not unreasonable. As it is probable that the general election will bo fixed j for some time in September,, the ses ■ sion is banlly likely to last longer than the...
