Boys and Cigarettes. [Newspaper Article] — The Wollondilly Press — 19 May 1906

Boys and Cigarettes. "Suppose a boy Jibs a . lot of cigarettes,1 and smokes a few of them every day, is there any injury in this ? I can tell you, for I have bad Bucb boys for patients. Such smoking, even in so-called moderiitiuri (as if there were nny suob thing as moderation in. atimulanta for the young 1) will do three things fur him : 1. It will run his pulse up to one hundred or more pe? miuiito. 2. It will reduce his weight below the healthy standard. 3. It will reduce his strength and general'vitality, as will appear in his pale complexion and his dimininhed appetite. Cigarette umoking is one of the worst habits physically that a boy can form. It injures tho heart and digestion, and it tends to check the growth. It gives a lad false and sillv notions. auit it does not brine him into good cotnpauy.' '—Union Signal (U.S.A.).
