The 1st of July will mark the com mencement of another year's military training, and on that date the H. Coy. will fall in at the local drill hall at 7.30 p.m. This year the strength of the company will be increased by the addition of the 1900 quota. On Saturday next the mem bers of the Jordan shield team journey to Warrnambool to receive the shield, which was won by Koroit at the recent com petitions. Sir Ronald Munro Ferguson, when he visits Wangaratta on August 12, will at tend a charity carnival on the district racecourse, at which a goat race will be a feature. The goats, it is officially ex plained, will be harnessed to "little carts," and will be driven by little children once round the course. Application was made to Mr. J. Pasteurising Cream. AN INTERESTING DISCUSSION. A discussion calling (or more than or dinary interest took place at the annual Conference of the Butter Factory Managers Association. It arose out of the report referred to by Messrs H. W. Osborne and P. J. Carroll in their papers, which, in a summary gave what was styled, "Principal Reasons why New Zealand export butter, is, on the average, so much belter than Australian," Briefly, it indicated that the New Zea land product was made from whole milk supply. "Even now," it was stated, "73 per cent, of it was made from that source of supply, whilst much of the 27 per cent, of borne separator supply is gathered from farms close to the factories." Further factors olaimed for the produc tion of better butter in New Zealand in cluded favorable climate, suppliers on rich land close to factories, highly expert in structions to managers, and pasteurisation. The rolls now being printed, which will be known as the Commonwealth Electoral Rolls, 1014, will contain the names of the electors enrolled up to the dates on which the lists are despatched by the electoral registrars for the purpose of being printed. THE LUNCHEON. DR. MANNIX'S ADVICE ON EDUCA TION QUESTION. At the conclusion of the servicc a move was made to the old church building, where an excellent luncheon was supplied by Mrs. Chow and family. The building was filled to overflowing, and the Rev. Father Kerin presided. Dr. Mannix and Bishop Hig gins were seated on either side of the chairman, and visitors present included Mr. A. S. Rodgers, M.H.R., Mr. J. F. Duffus, M.L.A., the architect, and leading residents of Crossley, Koroit, and Warr nambool. The rev. chairman extended a hearty welcome to His Grace, His Lordship, and the other visitors. He said the people of Crossley felt grateful to them for the great honor conferred upon them. In the life of communities as well as individuals some events stood out more than others and Crossley was celebrating one such that day. For some years past they felt that a new church was required.
