TELEGRAPHIC NEWS. (Filou OUR TEf.F.GIlAPnlO COnilESrOXUTiNTS.) THE WAK IN NEAV ZEALAND. SYDXEY. Moy 10. News has been received from Auckland to the 3rd instant, or a very important nature. General Cameron attempted to storm the Pnh near Taurangi, and the troops wore repulsed after nine boura bombarding. Tho storming party vero cut to pieces. Tho following officers were killed :-Captains nay and Hamilton, and Lieutenant Hill of tho Naval Brigade. Colonel Booth, Captains Glover, Muir, Hamilton, and Ultcrton, and Lieutenant Longland of the -13rd Regiment. The total loss on our sido is put down at 28 killed and 77 wounded. During the night HieMoarics fled having lost G1 men. They then attacked the Sentry Hill Redoubt, near Toranoki, when tiley were repulsed with severe loss, they having 100 men killed and wounded. The Nelson gold-fields aro proving to be very rich. Ilia Excellency the Governor is visiting the AArcstcrn Districts. Mr. Davidson has been appointed Surveyor Gcnoral. AMERICA...

So primitive is the style of architecture adopted hy the great majority of people who build in Brisbane, that not only are the comforts of life not studied, but its decen- cies are disregarded and shamelessly trans- gressed. Paltry "humpies," which are neither air-tight nor water-tight in floors, walls, or roofs, are run up with the frailest materials, and partitioned off into what are called rooms that will hardly afford space for a cat to jump; and they are let at rates that would be high for decent houses, but which are exorbitant and scandalously unconscionable for such ken- nels as we refer to. Persons of limited or moderate means 'who haye any notion of respectable living find it almost impossible to settle their families in comfort. London, April 5. Hungary is in a slate of revolution. Extensive preparations are being made for war between Austria and Italy. The Polish struggle oontinues, and the atrocities committed by the Russians arc being increased daily.
