FISH SHOP BR/YWL. At the Footseray Court on Thursday,'. Christian Nansen was charged with having as-, saulted Con Arbanitis. Mr' Secomb" appeared to prosecute Defendant did not appear and Mr Secomb said he believed Hansen had sailed .for Norway. Con Arbanitis stated that he conducted a fish shop in And erson street, Yarraville. On May 13. defendant came to the, shop, and asked for sorri; fish. Defendant walked into the kit chen, and witness ordered him out. When witness asked for the sixpence for the fish., de fendant would not pay. A. ro'U started ; .defendant used bad language and * turned' every thing upside down, striking witness-, three times. Constable Hogan slated that at a quarter to twelve- on the evening in question, he saw a crowd outside complainant's shop. He saw defendant rush out of the shop. HOUSING OF THE PEOPLE FOOTSCRAY FREE FROM SLUM AREAS. The health officer of the city of Footscray (Dr Webb) referred to the housing question in a report to the Council on Monday evening:. He stated that from a sanitary point of view, it might be claimed that the citizens of Footscray were well housed. The' district had no slum areas, and the newly-elected houses, on the whole, were satisfactory. Tljat' 'sfttiiractftin,\ was, however, "ttr&fegced with regret when they speculated on what the city might have been under''a properly devised town-planning scheme. Under the powers of the Health Act", 56 notices, dealing with houses deem ed to be unfit for human habitation, were issued. The health officer repeated a suggestion made in his previous report as to the necessity for more frequent collection of house refuse.
