THE GREAT SHIPWRECK. TRUTH ABOUT THE TITANIC. CARPATHIA ARRIVES AT NEW YORK. J IMPRESSIVE SCENES. ?..?? ' London. Fridav. i . The long-looked-for Carpathia has at last brought into harbor the sur vivors of the Titanic. Their story bears out only too. well the meagre details with which the wireless telegraph has fitfully served the expectant world. Alter hoping against hope, human ity now learns from the lips of those who went through the experience that the Titanic went down with nearly 1600 souls. The semi-official narrative of the survivors' committee is a plain, un varnished tale of a stupendous dis aster, with its trail of terror,- pathos, suffering, and misery— all that is. harrowing in the recital, i At the same time the catastrophe has its . noble side of heroic deeds, self-pacrifice, patience, and endurance. Wives stood by their husbands! sides on the stricken ghjp i and' refused their one hope of life. . ' Though some sensational stories are circulated by survivors respecti...
