THE BAY OF FUNDY [Newspaper Article] — Birchip Advertiser and Watchem Sentinel — 1 April 1914

the bay of i'undy The Bay of Fundy, the scene of the wreck of the "Cobequid," is full of strange and contradictory features (aays '"tfho Westminster Gazette ). Grand Meanan Island, which lies to the port hand of a vessel entering the bay, is one rocky graveyard—on the reef to the south-east an Impaled ship is a common sight. Every indentation, nay, every rooky cranny, bears some terrlblo and suggestive name descrip tive of some maritime tragedy. On the island, twelve miles in length and scarcely inhabited, is a graveyard filled with the bodies of unknown Bailors. A little above Trinity Rock, or which tho "Cobequid" is impaled, the coast of Nova Scotia rises in rocky parapota from tho sea, and a narrow inlet ad mits to the Annapolis Valley, whoro, strange to say, the cyo rests on a fer tilo valley of apple orchards, which raise tho highest-priced fruit In tho world. In this sheltered space is a climato which, owing partly to tho Gulf Stream and partly to position, differB altogether ...
