RADIO FOR PRESS. EMPHATIC DEMAND. AN OBVIOUS INJUSTICE [Newspaper Article] — Adelong and Tumut Express — 11 December 1925

R ADIO FOR PRESS.' ? «nnrv» ? ? EMPHATIC DEMAND. an Obvious injustice ' 'The efforts of the N.S. JV. Country Press Association ;to induce tlie Gov ernment to allow the newspapers tlxe use of wireless are being watched with, considerable interest by the country newspapers,' say the 'Forbes Gazette.' 'Under the present regu lations newspapers are not allowed to publish news received by wireless, and' this places them under a con siderable handicap. As a case in. point, we need only instance the con ditions under which tlie news of the result of the Melbourne Cup was re ceived in Forbes. Several private wireless sets received the news Within tn minutes of the finish of the race, while the newspapers— though in re ceipt of urgent telegrams— did riot get the news till half-an-hour later. This is a very unfair situation, for the newspapers are the . legal or rightful disseminators, of news, and should be',. the;, first' to 'announce/ th& result ofj.any event. ? , y \- ? 'In the re...

BLESSED SACRAMENT BURSARY FUND. FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT. [Newspaper Article] — Adelong and Tumut Express — 11 December 1925

BLESSED SACRAMENT BURSARY FUND. FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT. We have pleasure in submitting herewith, to the parishioners of Tu mut and Adelong, the fourth annual I report of the Blessed Sacrament Bur sary Fund. During the year the cre dit-balance at the Government Sav ings Bank has risen from £61/8/7 to ?C99/1/4 — an increase of £37/12/9. The total receipts for the year (made up of interest on Cootamtindra bonds £88/7/1, and Savings Bank interest £4/7/2) amount to £92/14/3, and the total expenditure amounts to £55/1/6, paid to the Springwood College for two half-burSarics, leaving the above credit of £37/12/9. This addition to the fund raises our total assets to £1159/1/4, of which £1060 remains in vested with the Cootamundra Muni cipal Council and the balance in Tu mut Branch of the Government Sav ings Bank. When the appeal closed, we had £1177 in hand, so that our pre sent total is £17/18/8 short of that amount. This shortage arises through the first payment to Springwood Col lege falli...
