j PUBLISHER'S COLUMNl [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 June 1910
j PUBLISHERS COLUMNl It should be the aim of every Berkshire breeder to place the Berkshire into the feed-lot of every farmer in America . The ultimate end of the hog is the pork barrel and this being true , the Berkshire should be raised by every farmer , W / e are convinced , and so are Berkshire breeders , that the Berkshire hog is the best and most profitable breed to raise , but we must convince the American farmer that this is true . There is no better way of doing this than by sending the farmer literature which sets forth the advantages of the Berkshire breed and gives live Berkshire news . THE BERKSHIRE WORLD AND CORNBELT STOCKMAN is the only paper published that does this . We are confident that if you will send our publication to the farmers in your vicinity that some of them will be converted to your breed and will naturally buy their foundation stock from you . TEN GOOD BERKSHIRE PICS FREE . We have just arranged with a well known Berkshire breeder to furnish us ten fir...

In a recent letter to this office , he writes : I am breeding in such a small way that there is little to-say except that I have aimed to get only best individuals and breeding . One of Sutton's Good Ones . [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 June 1910
One of Suttons Good Ones . Our good friend , Mr . Chas . E . Sutton , Lawrence , Kansas , is fortunate in owning the great breeding boar Berryton Duke , Jr ., and in a recent letter which we quote below , he seems to think very highly of Kansas University Duke , Junior Champion boar at the last International . The litters out of our own sows are as fine as we ever had and are ranging from seven to thirteen . The first litter by K . U . Duke , our Chicago Jr ., Champion , is probably the most , uniform and best headed litter on the farm . I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of a few more litters by him and if they come of this same quality he is not for sale at any price . Miss Robin Belle , the dam of our Kansas City Junior Champion sow has seven beautiful pigs , but we really have so many good litters that it is hardly worth while commenting on them . All we need is lookers and the pigs sell themselves .

What is the Greatest Invention ? [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 June 1910
What is the Greatest Invention ? To be sure there is seemingly no end to the number of inventions and so to say which is the greatest has taken quite a little thought and research . We consider all labor-saving devices for both the home and office great . We consider that which enables us to do our work with least efforts , as being great , but greatest of all possibly , is that means whereby we are amused and entertained . What brings the most entertainment to us and what is the means by which it is brought ? This is answered in one word , Music , and the invention which brings us music is the Edison Phonograph . There are numerous sound reproducing machines on the market , but only one Edison . This is the clearest , purest and most natural of all . It is only a short time that the phonograph has been considered a musical instrument , but is now and has been , since it has been brought to its perfected stage , and now has its honored place in the best homes and musicrooms .
