A party, headed by Sheriff Jack Kin bo. of Meaefee county, went to tlio jail at Mt Sterling to hang John Bar nett and bis party of desperadoes, who bad murdered Vaughaa Hilton. The jailer got wind of their coming and with a small guard succeeded in not only running the lynchers ofl but se riously wounding Kin go and a man named Clare, who wero captured. A number of horses were killed and oth ers of the mob wero wounded but tho guard received no injury. Kin go re ceived four bullets in his leg and it is said to be broken in sixteen places.
