WHIG AND TKIMJNE. JACKSON. Tenn. SATURDAY, MAY 15. 1875. riounow ON the Sea.- There arc some items of nevrs ho terrible that they naturally call fur prominent anl extended mention. Such is the wreck of the Eagle line Steams-hip Schiller, which sailed from New York on the 28 Hi of April for Hamburg, by way of riymoujji, Eng., and Charbourg, France, mi l struck on the rocks of Sc-illy I-lrs, in the Engliidi Channel, oil the night of May 7th, at 10 o'clock, when a Ut rendered the beacon lights onthcshtad invisible, and the vessel ruMied upon the fatal reef. On board were the crew of 1-0 persons, and 201 passenger.1, of whom 311 are reported lost. Oving to the fearful ea raging, the boats could do but little good. Some of the survivors were picked up while swimming, and so:nc were ttr-e.-al time washed otr the rock. The Captain and second Mate were drown ed. The steamer w;w lying with her broadside on the rock at the time of the dispatch. Great excitement was tainted in Ixjndon on Satur...
