Caldwell, with whose career in past life there is con nected a bit of war reminiscence that may be worth relating. At the be ginning of the war the gentleman re sided in Audrain county, Missouri, between Mexico and Centralia. A few days- since a contract for the building of tho first division of the Arizona Mineral Bolt Railroad, signed by Grceno B. Ilaum, president of tho Mineral Belt Construction Company, and J. W. Eddy, president of tho A. M. B. R. R., was forwarded from Bos ton to this place for tho signatuo of George White, secretary of tho 11. R. company, which was signed and re turned by Mr. Whito. Tho contract provides for tho build ing ofthe road from a point on tho A. & P. road, at or near Flagstaff, to Globe. It further provides for tho building of fifty miles of the road the coming year (1884), and fifty more miles in each consecutive year until the road is completed to Globe.
