Minister Mining. Key. John A. Holltinls, former ly the Congregational minister at White Oaks, and who wedded a young lady who taught school a number of years there, is missing from his home near San Francis co, He lias been pastor of a church there for a number of years and it was there that his wife died about four years ago. A friend has handed us the fol lowing clipping, relating to his disappearance, which is repro duced for the interest of the miss, iug pastor's many friends here: Kev. John A. Hollards, of the Congregational church at Black Diamond, who has been missing since May JJ1, seems to have drop ped completely out of site. The police of San Francisco and Oak land, as well us sheriff Vculc of Contra Costa county, searched in vain today for a possible clew to his disappearance. The idea of suicide is scoffed at by all who knew Hollards, and friends still feur that he has met a violent death. Hollards lived at the Cornwall Hotel at Black Diamond, and left his room in a con...

4fc. .... m.... . . REASONS FOR NOT REMOVING THE COUNTY SEAT. A Rtpljr to Fdltcioii SUteatnti uti Arga mcfltl Stt Fortk hj tha Ctrrlioio Kcwt. In llic scries of articles pub lished in the Carrizozo News in favor of the removal of the coun ty scat from Lincoln, some of the statements made arc at such var iance with the facts as shown by the public records of the county that I have been amased that no one has answered these articles sooner. I am not a politician, I have no axe to grind, and I am personally indifferent as to where the county scat is located so far as my business or profession is concerned. As a taxpayer the removal of the county scat is quite another thing, and should be, from this point of view, so con sidered by every other tax-paying citizen of the county. I do not blame the town of Carrizozo for wanting to get the county scat as long as they use lair means and as long as the editor of the Car rizozo News tells the whole truth and nothing but the truth so far as con...

V f. f Tfee Btll Game. Wednesday afternoon the Car rizozo ball team met the M'Coy's Browns of El Paso on the local diamond. It took the visitors eleven innings to conquer the local boys. This was partly ac counted for by the fact that the Brown's regular pitchers were taking a lay-off, and their place was Tilled by an extra. Gallachcr pitched for Carrizozo and struck out eight men. After eleven in nings had been played the score stood 8 to 7 in favor of the Browns So close a game was not looked for, and some seemed to think that the Browns did not let them selves out to their fullest. A large crowd witnessed the contest. Immediately after supper the Browns left for Fort Stanton, a 28 mile drive through the moun tains, to cross bats with the Stantons, Descriptive Pamphlet. (Ointrtliutitl hy tlio Onrrlmto Clinnlier of Commrtfn ) READ AND INWARDLY DIGEST. In nil discussions, fair-minded men should always remember that their opponents dilTcc from them no more than they them sfelvcs differ from their opponents. And we hhould he very careful in milking charges of had faith and wrong doing. Mistakes are not always wilful and malicious. Too great a degree of enthusiasm, or self-interest, may warp one's per ception of what is reasonable and fair. Very few men indulge in heated verbal argument, or take the ttouble to prepare lengthy newspaper articles, unless there is something more than love for the irood cause somewhere, in some form, behind it. I Let us admit that our good and worthy friend, John Ilalcv, made a mistake, as he himself frankly admits, and now let our good friend and ...

The statetcent being circulated by residents of Lincoln, entitled "Against tlm Removal of the Gounty Seat," Is a worthy off spring of minds which are capa ble of perpetrating the crime of causing the slip attached to the bill passed by the legislature, rel ative to the removal of county seats, on which the signatures of the officers of the legislature were written, stolen after it had been placed in the custody of Mr. Jaffa, the Secretary of the Territory.
