Not under any cir cumstances would you have them to be disappointed. Your gifts may be few and poor, or they may be many and costly. Yet there are others, neighbors, friends, widows and orphans to whom the Christmae times may come with painful remembrances of the past, when husbands, wives, fath ers and mothers, were there on that festal day with some memento of kind regard. In the various homes are the aged and the orphan—they, too, would rejoice with the world on this day. Will you not remember them oow and throw a handful of sunshine Into their heartsT While you are looking around for something for your loved ones, think of the needy ones who would add to your joy by the knowledge that you added br...

...LOCAL TOPICS Christmas was appropriately obser ved in the churches in Ritzville and by the citizens generally. Short pro grams by the little folks Christmas eve, concluding witlha generous dis tribution of gifts and mementos of ceteeni and friendship an:l the teach ing of the old token kept new by Christmas observance, "Peace on earth, Good will to man." The day was quietly acknowlegid by the clos ing of stores and places of business and the rejoicing of the emblem of the day—peace. Mail's joys and sorrows are the same as when that Judian star first broke over the hills of Beth lehem, but some have lost significance in the attainment of higher and nobler joys and the lessening of sorrow's sting by the universal adoption of the message entailed and it has lost none of it's radiance in the passage of the mighty hundred years. Buchanan which imparts valuable information as to the rain fall in Adams county during the past decade. As it is in a tabulated and comprehensive form we would suggest that it be preserved as much as possi ble for fn'.ure reference as the time will come when many may desire a copy of it. After the lapse of a few years it will be better appreciated than now. Reed, one of the legal lights of Colfax, says the Spokesman- Review in a Colfax communication of the 26th ult., has been suspended from the bar for the term of one year for unprofessional conduct and con tempt of court.
