The Farmers' Department. Manures. The failure to raise good crop i of wheat upon laDd loDg cultivated is ool bo often attributable to different seed as unfair cultivation. In most cases the noil has keen robbed of the wheat produc- " tog properties, such as the phophates, potash and o'her suits. This is true in a large degree of the wheat growing section uf the older States, where the soil has been so lone drained of its substance that it is no longer possible to raise a heavy crop of Wheat in the best season. (Ja such lands farmers phould apply bone dust, or soluble bone dust, or bout super-phosphate and ashes to restore the potash. Lime should ' be nsed to gather carbonic acid. Li m de posited in large piles will collect carbonic acid from the air and become a better fer tilizer. Lime should be applied with grass or other rentable matter, upon which it acts chemically and produces plant food. It also corrects the 90urs acid in llie soil. Some fields need sul phuric acid which is s...
