Unfortunately, we can only agree with these opinions. There arc qualif icd, dedicated men and women associated with law enforcement in the county, but too often personalities interfere with their work. l aw enforcement is a...

THURSDAY. JUNE 1. 1978 ■ Meat Import Act Revisions Proposed THE BASTROP COUNTY TIMES. SM1THV1LLE. TEXAS 78957 SEC. I.PAGE 7 BY ERLENE GOERTZ President T. A. Cun- ningham traveled to Washington Monday to testify before the sub- committee on Trade, Committee on Ways and Means, on revision of the Meat Import Quota Act of 1964. Chairman of the sub- committee is Charles A. Vanik, D.-Ohio. Mr. Cunningham will testify on behalf of Sen. Lloyd Bentsen's bill which of- fers a countercyclical approach to meat imports. The bill also would lower the quota level in times of surplus and bring new categories of meats un- der the quota. The subcommittee's hearings on this sub- ject are particularly im port ant now because the Senate Finance Com- mittee amended a House- passed small tariff bill to include major changes in the 1964 law. This was passed April 19 products into renewable fuel supplies. The secre- tary also set a series of public hearings on the guidelines during the next few weeks. Bergl...
