Hudspeth Cut The vWeights Charges of swindling in the amount of $20,000 have been filed against Gaston Alexandre and E. D. Hudspeth, late of the cot- ton firm of Hudspeth, Alexandre and Co. of Bowie, because of a fraud alleged to have been per- petrated two weeks ago on the Galveston exporting firm of W. L. Moody & Co. Warrants have been issued for both men, who settled with the Bowie banks and left immediately after the transaction. Sheriff W. G. Bral- ley has traced Alexandre to Paris, France, and Hudspeth to Los Angeles, Cal. April 22—Sam uel Langhorn Clemens, (Mark - Twain,) Pilot, printer, author and lecturer, died in this city at 6:30 o'clock tonight of angina pectoris. He lapsed into coma at 3 o'clock from which he never recovered. The day before the end, and after having passed the first night of natural sleep, since his return from Bermuda, he appeared cheerfui, recognized his daughter, and for a short \ time recovery was hoped for.
