DEATH OF MR. T. ATHERTON. Mb. Thomas AtheuTon, an old and highly respected resident of tiifs district, died at' lii's residence, Bellinger Heads, on Wednesday last.'deatii being due to heart disease, from which he bad suffered for the past yeaf. lie had be.en under the treatment of Dr. Fiaschi, of. Sydney, for some time, and locally Sir. Hicks attended him to the end. The Rev. racner aiiern was in attcmluiice on the de ceased for some days prior to his demise. Mr. Atherton was born at Clapton, England^ and had been in this colony for over 40.years. He was., attached to the pilot service for mally yea.r?, and . at. the time of his death Was in receipt of a pension. He was married on the Macleay in 1SG4, and leaves a widow and tannly, for whom much sympathy iij; ex pressed. Deceased was 0!) years of age. Woolnough, ex-President of the Wosleyan Conference, has been oti a visit to the Bel linger, and considerably increased his already large army of friends and admirers. His fund of anecdotes and pleasing manner have been the 'open sesame' wherever he wei'it. Oil Sunday last he held services at the Wesleyan Churches in Bellingen and Fernmounfy which were filled to the doors. Accompanied by the'Rcv. A.
