Last mconth Maurice, now nineteen, won further honors by graduating dux of the teachers' college, with a further scholarship entitling him to three years' advanced training at Sydney University. Maurice is the son of Mrs. E. Pitfield, an employee for many years of Murray Bros. Ltd., and g'randson of a well-known Parra matta figure, Mr. Walter Hall. To gain country school experi ence, Maurice is at present teach ing at the: Central School, Wel lington, near, Dubbo, where he will remain until the end of this year. Warning on Power Restriction Breaches Several electricity con sumers in Holroyd Muni cipality have been warned, following breaches of pow er restriction regulations the Electricity Engineer (Mr. E. N. Parry) has re ported. The Emergency Electric ity Commissioner (Mr. Conde) has told Holroyd Council that breaches of the regulations have oc curred at premises in Chur~ch Street, Parramatta, south of Bounda~y Street, and in Parramatta Road, Granville. Neon signs were switched on before the regulated time of 7.30 p.m. Mr. Parry said particular attention would be paid: to advertising signs, tennis courts, and shop window displays.

'Everyman's Centre" At Parramatta Parramatta branch of the Aus traliahn campaigners for Christ last week opened a community centre for young people at 165a Church Street, to be known as Everyman's Centre, where Bible classes will be provided for men and women of all denominations. Final Stages Of Bowls Championship Contenders for Parramatta bowls championship title have Sbeen whittled down to live. Three have reached the semi final and two others have yet to play their quarter-final game. The quarter-final, which is set down for to-day, will be between "Digger" Evernden and Sid Pye, two of the up-and-coming brigade. Last week, Evernden gave a polished display of draw ing in his defeat of Harry Rowan, who played much below his best form. They say you cannot play two games success fully-and Harry likes golf. Three matches were decided last Saturday, and in one-that between Charlie Mott and Tom Maudsley-one of the best ex hibitions seen in years was given. Both utilised the "dead" draw shot almost throughout the game, and time and again the eight were cluttered within a two-feet radius. SCHOOL SPORT A photographer provided chil dren competing in events at Northmead Public School's an nual sports day on Saturday with a "photo-finish." Winners were presented with photographs of their successes. Cups were awarded to both champion boy and gi'l athlete of the school. Northmead defeated Girraween 6-nil in the second match of the Rugby League football competi tion last week. The girls a I s o defeated Meadows 9-5 in the A grade basketball competition, a n d played a 2-all draw match in the 13 grade section. Hoping to foster- hockey at Granville Technical College, Lid combe - Granville Hockey Associ ation has presented special equip ment to the school. The equipment includes about two dozen hockey sticks, scme balls, and a pair of "kickers." The school has two teams com peting in the P.S.A.A.A. Hockey competition.
