HOBAR TOWN; SATURDAY, JANUARY 31, 1818. SITTING MAGISTRATE—JAMES GORDON, Esq. [Newspaper Article] — The Hobart Town Gazette and Southern Reporter — 31 January 1818

HOBART TOWN; SATURDAY, JANUARY 31, 1818. SITTING MAGISTRATE- JAMES GORDON, Esq. SHIP NEWS.--On Saturday last sailed, once more, the ship Pilot, Capt. PEXTON, with live slock, for Batavia; and on Wednesday the brig Governor Macquarie, Capt. Reibry, for Port Dalrymple. On Monday morning last, at 11 o'clock, the execution of Richard Collyer took place on the rise of the hill at the beginning of the New-town road. In noticing last week the fate of the murderers of CARLISLE and     O'BYRNE at the Falls, we mentioned only six ; it will be recollec- ted, however, by our Readers, that there were originally eight— the other two of whom were McGuire and Burne, who were exe-   cuted on Hunter's Island during the time Martial Law was in force     in this Colony. Thus seven out of the eight murderers have in a short period met retributive justice ; which will assuredly sooner or later overtake the greater miscreant of the whole, still at large.
