ENTERTAINMENTS YARRAVILLE BAND INVIT ATION CONCERT. An invitation concert was givet by the Yarraville Citizens' liras: Band in the Yarraville hall las! *'wcre~3eITfifuted af the excellence 0: the entertainment, the: items being of a varied nature. Mr Brinley Evans in .the absence of Mr Heger ty, presided, and made an appeal on the Band's behalf Mr Evans' remarks will be found reported eljewhere. The band, under the conductor ship of Mr Vining, played four sel ections, and each number was favorably' commented upon. "A Night in Switzerland," was prettily given, and the cornet echo wbs very effective. The fantasia, '• 'The Smithy in the Woods," has been seldom given with better effect. The rendering of these two items shows the rapid strides the Band is making. Their fourth number "Over the waves" was also much appreciated, as was also 'Austral,' their initial item.
