A BAND MOVEMEMTV A meeting convened by Mr. C. Lang- • don was held in the council chamber on Wednesday, February 2,'with the object of reviving the Mannum Band. The attendance was small but en thusiastic. Mr. H. M. Dingle pre sided. After an informal discussion it was found that many old players and some good juniors were quite willing to again join up with the band, but a capable conductor was needed. On the motion of Mr. W. W. Tabe It was decided to approach Mr. W. Reschke, the previous bandmaster, with the re quest that he again take the position. It was also decided that the bandmas ter should be remunerated for his ser vices. Mannum lias been without the ser vices of a band for some considerable time. This has been a distinct loss to the town, and its various functions, and it is hoped that the movement in itiated at this meeting will meet with success.

Local Board of Health. The monthly meeting followed the meeting of the council. All present, Councillor G. H. Mann .presiding. Two cases of lufecLious diseases were reported. Letter from H.-t)ertel to the inspec tor read. Inspector's Report. The report stated—"As instructed by your board at its last' meeting, paid a visit to H. Oertel's place at Punthari on January 11, 1927 to see if notice served on him dated Feb ruary 14, 1926, had heen complied with." The report alleged that Mr. Oertel had "assumed a threatening at titude and defied me to enter the house." The inspector asked that if,he had to make a further inspection he should be accompanied by the medical officer; in the alternative be should be al lowed police protection. Decided to ask the medical officer to go out with the inspector to make re-inspection of the premises. A notice served to abate an insanitary condition was adopted.
