Port Germein (From our own Correspondent.)   August 16th 1898. Mrs. Fuss, who was so severely burnt last- Wednesday, succumbed to her in- juries on Saturday and was buried in the Port Germein cemetery on Sunday after- noon. Sunday was a most disagreeable day, with a strong dry northerly wind and dust blowing. It tried to rain towards evening but all that fell was harmless, and apparently fine-weather has set in again. Many more such day's weather as Sunday's experience would very seriously affect our harvest prospects. We dou't seein to be "out of the wood " yet as re gards the season. The grounding of the steamer Trans- vaal on Ward's Spit is another "nail in the coffin ''for our insufficient jetty light, and the possibility of the expenditure of £600 upon a new light tower ashore looms larger.   Measles are rampant in the township and district, and nearly every family is   having, or have had a turn. Monday, August 15. (Before Mr. J. P. Stow, S.M.)   John McPherson was charged on the information of Walter Roads with steal- ing a waterproof overcoat on the 15th July last, the property of the informant. Prisoner pleaded guilty. Walter Roads, carpenter, Port Pirie, said—Was working at the Proprietary works on the 15th July last; know the prisoner; he worked at the smelters; saw him that day; the coat produced in Court belongs to me ; last had it in my possession on the 15th July ; hung it up in the blower shed when I went to work at 7:30 a m.; I left at 12 noon and missed the coat; value the coat at 20s. ; paid 25s. for it; next saw the coat last Saturday night week; was at the pay office, and the lad came over there; saw   him with a coat on which looked like mine, but afterwards looking for him found that he had disappeared; saw him   again last Saturday night in Ellen street, and drew Constable Masson's attention to it; spoke to the prisone...
