'by the epidemic amount to £10,00(1,000. .- It was generally considered, that the disputo in con nection with tho steamer Tweed is the beginning of another great conflict between tho combined steamship owners and unionists. Not only was it intended to roduce tho wanes of seamen, but euort3 aro being mado to reduce the overtime rates paid to wharf laborers. Thero was a large attendance at the striUo meet ing held on tho Broken Hill reserve and speeches of a revolutionary character woro mado.
