The Saline County Journal THURSDAY, MARCH 5, 1874. General Serrano has been elected President of the Spanish republic. It is stated that the'new temperance bill will not be passed by the Senate. Tho Kansas Senate has passed a reso lution to adjourn sine die to-morrow at JO o'clock; A.-M. - Tho immigration bill was defeated in onr legislator. last Friday by a vote of 40 xo 39. The first vote stood, yeas 35, tiays 39. On Holiday night the Iloase of Eep resentatives at Topeka passed resolutions f impeachment against State Treasurer Josiah E. Hays, by a vote ot 74 for, to 20 against. The nomination of Wm. A. Simmons as collector of customs at Boston has been confirmed. This was Gen.
