All seemed to enjoy it, aad the more time they could spend out of doors, tons overcoat, furs or muffler, the better. Almost all places of business were closed. Services were held at the Episcopal and Catholic churches, in the latter tho choir being es sistod by the Silver Cornet Band. Ser vices were held at 5, 7 aad 10 A. X., and 3 and 7 r.«. A Goon WAT.—Mr. J. t. Stevenson, of Winnebago Prairie—a live, warm-hearted Pennsylvaniai! announced at the close of a meeting at that place recently, that a sociable would be held at his house one evening of that week, aad invited all to eosal and*lee hint. Thirty or more respond ed, sad spent a very pleasant evening. The result is that sociables are now all the rage, and the neighbors go. for miles to cultivate in this way good healthy social feelings. Clark & Co., have undertaken to raise $5,000, 000 with which to begin work on the eastern part of the Northern Pacific Railroad that construction will commence at a point on the Mis sissippi and Lake Superior Railway, •bout 25 miles from Duluth, and will proceed west in a direct line to Fort Abercrombie, on the Red Hirer, a dis tance of about 200 miles that it will afterwards be continued to the Missouri, and to the Pacific Ocean. The St. Paul Prat, in commenting on this article, again puts forward the St. Paul scheme for beginning the North ern Paoifio at the Breckinridge ter minus of the St. Paul and Pacific It thinks St. Cloud is to be "left out in the cold/' anjhow.
