THE FELIIANA BENT INEL. SOUTHERN PROt3ESS. From all the signs and. por tents now observable, there is reason to believe that in the course of a few years a steady current of emigration will set in towards the Soluth. It will not, probably, be. so much of emigrants from abroad as. from the older settled Sftates. We have had already the testimony of Mr. Atkinson, of Boston, t., the steady industrial improve ment visible in all parts of the South. We know that the pro duct of raw cotton, instead of decreasing as was anticilpteul, reached last year over 5,000,000 bales. We have been told, re cently, that the number of spini diles in the Southern cotton mills is over 700,000; that the mills are profitable; that new mills are going up, and that en terprisiing Southerne'-s are send ing their sons to the Eastern States to be trained in the ma chine-shops for the purpose of fitting them to manufacturC mill machinery at home. It is also stated that the Clements attachmenet, comliin ing the ro...
