There is nothing unreasonable in the questions suggested by a citi zen of Astoria in another column with respect to difficulties in city matters. Either party should be willing to have the subject brought iuto court now, and fairly tested, and openly explained. The points iat issue must eventually be arbitra ted, and believe that the proper tribunal should be called upon as speedily as possible, to 'determine those questions. From this it -will be seen that the Chinese bub ble is drawing to a head pretty fast. The entire question has engrossed 'more attention at Wash ington, this winter than it has ever o received at the hands of public men. The secret of this -is that both political parties are manceuv oring for campaign advantages in California next fall. At half past ten o'clock, night before last, the January term of the Circuit court lor Clatsop coun ty adjourned sine die, and Judge BellingeF, -Hon. J. F. Caples, the able district attorney, and members of the Portland bar in attendance, returned to their homes yesterday. Judge Bellinger has a pleasant faculty of expediting business, and it will be a source oc satisfaction 'to the people to know that the Judge was in advance of the at torneys in most cases, and that every cause which could be heard -was heard at this four days' session. The 25th of March has been fixed as a time for hearing other causes of importance which wr-re not fully made up.
