THE POLICE FORCE. [Newspaper Article] — Adelaide Morning Chronicle — 16 August 1852

THE POLIGE FORCE. THE Gazette of Thursday last contains two   announcements, severally very significant, but deriving tenfold forces from their juxta- position. The first one, dated August 3rd, is as follows : "Persons who are desirous   of obtaining appointments in the Police Force, being qualified for the same, are hereby informed that there will be several vacancies at the end of the present month ; and they are requested to apply at the Po- lice Commissioner's Office, any day before the 31st instanst, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m." The second notice U dated 10th August, but cannot, we think, be intended to have the effect of increasing the number and urgency pf applicants. Here it is :-"Notice is hereby , giyen,-that the Government will not be responsible for, debts incurred by any members of tile Po- lice Force ; tchose pay is tn full of all necessa- ries, and who should, therefore, pay for alli they receive."
