SATURDAY, FIIRUARY 16, 188I . THE ELEOTION. A. onour, meeting.of, the branches of. the Victorian Farmers', Associationv will, he hell on ,Tonday afternoon, at Trarnlgon, to decide upon tile selection of a candi date to represent South Gippsland in the coring Parliament. There were eleren gentlcmen nominated in the interest of the farmers at Traralgon some time ago, and it was supposed that one of this number would receive the suffrages of the branches. Wer understand, hiowever, on good authority, that it is probable that a Mar. Cor.nar s, of Melbourne, is likely to be the nominee of the association. Now, we ask, in the name of common: sense, what .claim. Mr. Co Lrcrmr has on the frmlers or any other class in South Gippsland? iHe is not in the remotest manner connected witlh farming iiterests; lie is not a mranof any Parliamentary or public experience'; 'nor, 'as far as we know, of suchl consplicaoorsahility or commanding, influence as to demand tihat the claims of all other candidate...

South Gippsland Election. [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser — 23 February 1889

South Gpij isiatd Election. Mr. P. C. Mason's committees have very, wisely determined to publish for tile iiforomation of the whole of the electors a circular" dealing with the j'erry liberal subsidy of £3 to £1, whichll the whole of the shlires of Sliltll:Gippslanid are iri receipt of at the present timne. The letters of Messrs. E. J. Cameron, a M.P., rind Thooias Langdori, M.P., nnd the rcsolutious. of tlhanks romni. tie varioos shires of Soutih Gippslaiid 2 prove beyond a doubt that Mr. Mason played ai v?ry prominenit part in pro- I edring for his coustittietits theo splehndid subsidy of £3 to £1, which means that dil the collection of £25 ldocl rated the Stato contributes £75 additional, or ihi other words. instead of having olily.the £25 to spend which has beesi collected from the ratepayers, Mr. Mason by his exertions got this sumn subsidised by Parliamenon t by three times' tl?t amount, which ihenns al expeoiditure *of £100 instead of £75. Pleuro-Pneumonia. (Continued.) [Newspaper Article] — Morwell Advertiser — 23 February 1889

Plceura-I'ieunrnouia. (Contfinued.) I mean by successfsl inoculation, that the operation shall be carried out in a proper manner. I have reason to know that it is very frequently isnproperly performed. If animals are inoculated and still take the disduse. it is the fault of the operator. I had information at the time that in the Omublerland outbreak it was improperly done ; and the saime thing o?'ccurred in Pertlhshire. I have never known an animal successfully inoculated s?uecumb, or even contract tile disease, although it has been subjected to subse quent outbreaks. I have never known an animal take pleuro-pneumonia after pas eing thsrough a successful inoculation; it never produces pleuro-pneumonia. If the nitmal ihas pleuro-pneumonia already, inoculation certainly aggravates;it. Pleuro pneumonia cannot always be detected. The incubative stage cannot always be detected. At tlhe present time, I know of no means of beoing absolutely certain. If you have an animal subjected to exami...
