MINING NOTES AND TIPS [Newspaper Article] — The Clipper — 9 September 1893

Mining Notes and Tips TBt Ghomi.I Some time ago shareholders of the Queen mine were informed that large quantities of solid galena were being passed through in the worke being carried on, and that first olass ore weuldbo available from the North Eait Shaft. More Utely, that the stope containing 440.000 worth of ore ims readv for stoping, and still more recently that a fine galena lode bad bean discovered, from which .fint-olass ore could be baggad at once. The returns for last week, forwarded only on' Wednesday, instead of Monday as heretofore, uhow 47 tons concentrated »nd 3i tons of first-class ore bagged. The re turns of first-class ore is «o absurdly small that some explanation should be given. The fact that different parts of the concen trator required repairing accounts for the smaller tonnage of concentrates, but the return of first-class ore is most unsatis factory in face of all that has been reported of the quantities available. Men are doing well at Whale's Head, working ...
