Agricultural Bureau WESTERN CONFERENCE. A BIG GATHERING. The fourth annual conference of the Western District branches of the Agri cultural Bureau of New South Wales will be held at Parkes on -ad, 3rd, aud 4th April. A big gathering is antici pated, The cthairmau is W. E. Taylor, and the secretary is \Ir. G. Henderson. The conference will be opened by the State Governor. The Minister for Ag riculture will also attend. Among the addresses are: 'Some dis eases of Wheat,' by Dr. Noble; 'Fat Lambs and Wheat Growing,' by J. Caltworthy; 'What the N.S.W. Bush Nursing Association Is Doing,' by Miss Kirkcaldie; 'Agricultural Co-operation Within the Empire,' by 0, O. Crane. There will be a demonstration of wireless broadcasting, and a motor-trip around the Parkos district. Also, ot course, there will be pletny' of discus sion upon resolutions, notice of which has been given. Parkes is a real live country centre, and this fourth annual conference is sure' to attract a lot of attention.

A dry scratching shed should be available in wet weather. The trap nest ia the best, and surest test' for the laying hen. Fowls allowed to roost in trees give poor returns in eggs. Feed early in the morning if you want to encourage egg production. Save the best laying hens and clear «ut all that fail to pay their way. A 300-egg lieu costs no more to feed than the. worst layer in the flock. Dou't over-stock; small lots pay bet ter than lance flocks, antl are easier handled. Lime should always be freely used in roosting houses and ruus of limited dimensions. The hen which eats, up the waste pro ducts 011 the farm is converting refuse into cash.
