Grand Concert. IN AID OF SCHOOL OF ARTS PIANO FUND. [Newspaper Article] — Bowral Free Press — 15 January 1902

Grand Concert, IN AID. OF SCHOOL OF ARTS PIANO FUNI). The concert \yhich was held in the Bowral School of Arts last Saturday nigljt must take a first place among the many brilliant functions which froiq time to time have been organised and carried out by two of Bowral's most respected ladies, Mesdames C. W. Marsden and C. J. Royle. It is a very commendable action when persons who have time and influence at their command, seek to divert these valuable possessions into, channels of use fulness ; and it will ever be said of these two lady organisers that their efforts have always been directed towards assisting charitable objects. Many times has the dwindling exchequer of the School of Arts received a timely and handsome replenish ment as a result of their labors. The hall of the School of Arts was on this occasion, as is usually the case, crowded with a large and fashionable audience, the res erved seats extending for a considerable distance down the hall. The proceeds will undoubtedl...

THE FREE PRESS:. Published in Uoivral, Mittagong, and Robertson. Wednesday, January 15, 1902. OBSERVATIONS. By an Observer. The powers of vast wealth are enor mous. To the millionaire, anything which money can buy is within easy reach, and to the ambitious millionairet power equal ling that of a monarch is within his grasp,. Quite recently Mr. J. Pierpo.nt Morgan, the American multi-millionaire, purchased whole army of merchant vessels plying between England and America, for the purpose of placing within his hands a, \ very great influence over the control of : tlie stepl industries of the world. The purchase is said to have been effected during a holiday trip to England, and is only one among* the many startling trans ' fictions which this, wonderful m&n of finance carries out in the course pf his busy career. He treats the handling of rnillio.ris with no more apparent concern than if it was the merest trifling business affair. One would think that Mr. Mor gan's money-wakin...
