■\L\k <4jcnuD Published Every Tuesday Morning Tuesday, April , 1914. ; We beg to draw attention to the Commonwealth of Australia's notice which appears in this issue re enrol ment on the Electoral Rolls of the State of Victoria. Picola Sale.—Attention is direct ed to J. McNamara and Co's. Picola sale, which takes place next Mon day. This sale was put off from last Moriclay (yesterday) owing to the. 'Easter holidays. "Much Ado About Nothing."— The shire council has a fixed rule that all tenders should be lodged by nine o'clock on the morning of each meet ing. It sometimes happens that they arrive late, then the question of open ing them becomes a serious question. If the surroundings warrant it, a special ^motion generally secures a view of their contents. At last meet ing an - envelope • was laid on the council table some time after tenders had been opened, and was eyed askance up to the time the report of the public works cammittee came up. Nathalie and Numurkah Water Supplies. RESULT OF ANALYSIS. [Newspaper Article] — Nathalia Herald and Picola, Narioka, Kotupna and Moira Advertiser — 14 April 1914

Nathalie and Numurkah ! Water Supplies. RRsnr.T nir ANAr.v-iis. At the last meeting of the Numur kah Water Trust the following letter was dealt with :— . From Department of Agriculture, forwarding result of the anyalysis of water sent from Nathalia and Nu murkah weirs:— Numurkah — This sample is of fairly good quality. Exception may be taken, however, t > the content of nitrogen as ammonia, which is higher than is generally found in ordinary domestic supply water. Considering the season, and prob able lowness of the weir, this effect may not be so pronounced when the wtir obtains a fresh supply of water. In any case, no deleterious effect be apprehended from use of the water as at present supplied. Nathalia—This sample of water is of inferior quality. It was highly discolored with collodal clay, render ing it unsuitable for domestic use. This defeot could be remedied by Alteration ; failing that, the water should be treated with lime to pre cipate the clay. The quantity of lime r...

.Dyspepsia AND COMMON-SENSE. The man or woman who is a .victim of dyspepsia can't possibly en joy anything like good health. For, inind'you, whon once the stomach, gets out of order, then the digestive system—stomach,-liver and bowels —is likely to be affected, and so you go from bad to worse. Considered as one, the stomach, liver and bowels may be truthfully said to be some thing like a delicately -balanced ma-., chine. When a single part of the mechanism, say the stomach goes wrong, there is an immediate danger that it will upset the whole, throw it out of order, and bring about a< general break-down. To prevent or to banish dyspepsia, you can't do better than assist your digestive organs by taking an occi sianal dose of Mother Siegel's Syrup the world-famous herbal remedy for stomach and liver troubles. It" has been before the world for over 40 years. Each year, each week, in fact, cases are recorded where dys peptics have found relief by resort ing to this fine old fa...

DISTRICT NEWS. BARMAH EAST. [Newspaper Article] — Nathalia Herald and Picola, Narioka, Kotupna and Moira Advertiser — 14 April 1914

DISTRICT NEWS. (From Our Correspondents.) BARMAH EAST. One of the lirgest political meet ings ever held here was that which listened to Messrs. Biggar and Mor rison, the candidates for the Liberal Party's nomination for the Goulburn Valley seat in the State Parliament. The ground covered by the speakers was much the same as that traversed in their former speeches. Both re ceived an excellent hearing, buj were required to answer several questious at the close of their address. The meeting was evidence, both of the interest taken in the selection and of the effectiveness of the local Liberal organisation. » ■ • . . * Mr. Walter Pearce has been the victim of a painful accident. He was catching a young horse-in the stable, when it . suddenly swung round and jammed him against the wall. So great was the pressure •hat four ribs were fractured and partly displaced. He was attended by Dr. Reyes and is now ab rat again and making satisfactory pro gress towai ds recovery.
