Why not let the farmer set his price on his produce and the merchant on his goods?" Conscience is the eyelid which God has placed over the eye of the soul to guard its purity. What a Newspaper does for Nothing. This following article shoul 1 be rad and pondered well by every man that takei our paper without paying for it: The result of my information enables ma to state a fact, that the publishers of newspapers are more poorly rewarded than any men in the United States who inrest an equal amount of labor, capital and thought. They are expected to do more Burvice for less pay; to stand more spong ing and deadheading; to puff and defend moro persons without pay or hope of re wnrd than all other classes. They credit wider and larger, get oftener cheat ed, suffer more pecuniary losses: are often er lire victims of misplaced confidence than any othtr victim. It goes larder for n man to spend a dollar on a valuable news paper than ten on needless gegaws, yet everybody avails himself of the editor' pen and printer's ink. How many professional men and political reputations and fortunes hare been made and sustained by the friendly, tho' unrequited pen of the edito...
