Facta for tbe People to Till nit j about Concerning the Slavery Question. '' The Abolition North commenced the "agitation by trying to prevent the admission of Missouri into the Union. Tbe South, to get it in, had to yield up ber rights to four-fifths of the common territories. Afterward all the men engaged in politics, now leaders in the Republican party Chase, Giddings, Seward, Lincoln, Sumner, &o. fought agninst tbe admission of alnves states, and denounced tbe Missouri Compromise. In settling the territorial question of the Mexican war, the North opposed tbe divis ion of the acquired territory by the Missouri line, and insisted on slavery being interdicted from the whole of it. The Republicans opposed having the question of slavery io the territories left to tbe people or tbe territories to decide for themselves. When the people in '52 ratified tbe com promise of 'CO, leaving the slavery question to the people to decide for themselves in the territories, and to carry...
