Wht $ xtMt . [Newspaper Article] — Western Rural — 25 April 1868

Wht $ xtMt . _ ¦ Boy lost . He bad black eyes , with long lashes , red cheeks , and hair almost b ack and almost curly . He wore a crimson plaid jacket , with tall trowsers buttoned on . Had a habit . of whistling , and liked to ask questions . Was accompanied by a small dog . It is a long while now since he disappeared . I have a very pleasant house , and much company . My guests say , Ah ! it is pleasant here 1 Everything has an orderly put away look—nothing about under feet , no dirt ! But my eyes were aching for the sight of whlttllngs and cut paper upon the floor ; of tumble-down card-houses ; of wooden sheep and cattle ; of pop-guns , bows and arrows , whips , tops , go-carts , blocks and trumpery . I want to see boats a-rigglng , and carts amaking , crumbles on the carpet ,, and paste spilled upon the kitchen table . I want to see the chairs and tables turned wrong way about ; I want to see the candy-making and corn-popping , and to find jack-knives and fish-hooks among my mu...

THE m . Kbn _ £ [Newspaper Article] — Western Rural — 25 April 1868

THE m . Kbn _ £ Hiving Bees , I had three swarms of bees issue at the same time , and all mingled together and settled on the body of a large apple tree . The tree was some 14 inches in diameter , and the bees covered it all around and about three feet high up and down . What to do with them ih tbat position was a puzzle to me . To hunt up the three queens and divide the bees , required an apiarist of more experience than myself . I made up my mind to put them all in one large hive , but how was I to do lt ? I could not wing them off , as I never use a vail , gloves , or bee-hat in my apiarv . I did not know but they would leave me , tbey being somewhat displeased at the operation , but they concluded to settle again , and this time on tbe body of another large tree . As before , I applied...
