Jones, of New York, a life-long republican announces himself for Hancock and English. Gen. Grant has been elected president of San Pedro and Canon de Lagua company, which owns 40,000 acres of land in New Mexico, including cop per and gold mines. He will make his headquarters- in -New York. Of all the members of con gress who have heretofore rep resented Texas, not one was a native of the state. An oppor tunity is now ofTered to send a native Texan to congress, Hon. Seth Shepard, who was born in Washington county. An unknown friend favors the Banner with a marked copy of the Omaha Daily Republican containing an editorial showing why Garfield should be elected.
