A. Terrill. Editor News: I am glad to note that there is so much inter est being taken in this city and county with reference to the construction of the buildings of the West Texas State Normal College and there have been so many t inquiries made of ine about the matter that I thought possibly a statement through the columns of the News might be of general interest to the people. 7MB RANOALL OOUNTY HBWB. OBOBMBBR 3. f 909, Canyon City, Texas, Dec. 1, 1909. Editor News: Comparing the Panhandle of Texas with the states of Iowa and Illinois, was born and raised in Illinois, farmed for eight years in Greene county Iowa and for the last two years have been farming in the Panhandle of Texas. As to making money tarming, gram raising exclusively, I will say that the Panhandle of Texas is equal to Iowa or Illinois if not superior. Our land is just as good, acre for acre, and you can buy live acres of Panhandle land for the price of one acre of Iowa or Illinois land. Kaffir corn, milo maize, winter wheat, alfalfa and hog raising are money ma kers here. We have thousands of acres of winter wheat sowed in the Panhandle country this fall and the prospects for a bum per crop next year are very promising. We had fair crops of all kinds this year. The rent ers here can pay their rent and then have some to spare. From what I can understand, the rent ers in Iowa and Illinois ...

THE RANDALL; COUNTY. NEWS DECEMBER 3. 1909. WE D0J5IG THINGS. 6om of the Masterful Achievements of Americans. Americans founded the Urst govern nieut under which all men wore equal before the law. Since the Declarutlou of Independence was published to the world the democratic Idea has hourly received new impulse until now Its march seems Irresistible. Americans were the first to demon strate the feasibility of relying on a citizen soldiery to defend the land and its institutions against foreign and domestic attack. Americans were the first to abolish titular distinctions and to deprive so-t-lal eminence of any support save character or the consensus of those who choose to consider themselves as socially elect. It was au American who Invented the steamship. An American invent ed the telegraph. An American in vented the telephone. An American inveuted the electric light. An Ameri can invented the reaper, which makes it possible to feed the billion and more people on this planet. It wa...

THQ MANDALL CQUfiTY NBW8. DKCCUBe 3,. 1 OOP. The business at the Canyon City Supply Company store has had a steady increase from year to year but the increase in business this season has been unprecedentedly great, which fact alone is conclusive evidence to the thoughtful that the intelligent public, in their diligent search for a store where they can stretch the purchasing power of their dollars the farthest have turned to this BIG STORE as the place where they KNOW that they receive the greatest value for the least amount of money. For this increase of business we thank the buying public. It is customary, however, with the management to "clean up" the stock each year and to do this cleaning when the goods offered will be of service to the purchasers. We have, therefore, decided to give a two weeks' special sale on all goods in our large store Beginning Saturday, December the 4th at which time reductions in prices will take place in all pepartments. The store is flush with fresh, n...

Largest Normal Building in State will be Erected for West Texas State Normal at Canyon City. After several days delibera tion, the State Board of Educa tion last Saturday selected plans for the main building for the West Texas State Normal which has been located at Canyon City.
