Premature. announcement in last weeks pa per that we had elected our candidate for sheriff, was based upon the majori ty from Green Creek townfthip, whith had been reported to us wrongly, by telegraph. The telegraph gave Mr. Fabing's majority as 2 12, while the offi cial count gave him ouly 178. Mr. Fabing gained 6 in York and Madison, on the majorities reported, but the loss of 34 on the reported majority of Green Creek, left a majority of 21 for Young. Toney has escaped by tha skin of his teeth, but such a me agre majority, where other condidatea on the same ticket received hundreds, Bhowa that while he was the candidate of the parity he was not its choice, and that there are many men in that party who are not "willing to bow the knee to Baal." as New Secretary of War.
