nmx CAMPBELL & M'DESKOT KDITORS AND PROPRIETORS. TI'KMIUY JMOBXIXO, DEC. 13. VVk iiuvo by yesterday's mails the first number of the revived Richmond JZxaminer?John M. Daniel's late sheet?tho sixth daily now published in the late capital of the late confederacy. It in in most respects a "counterfeit pre sentment" of the old sheet, and aims most elaborately to re-produce it. The leadiug pen is however not Daniel's, although the editorials are such 110 doubt as are very pleasing to his tire eating shade wherever it may be wan dering at this time. The great question to onr minds is not what is to become ot the negroes in the South, but what is to become of theso newspapers. The Bohemian class in and around Rich mond was always large, and each fel low has to have a paper apiece. Every small fry politician over there must have his organ. Since tho niggers can no longer be sold to supply deficits to these organs, wo are unable to see upon what tho editors are to draw. There certainly i...

Uktffntdltgtmiz I CAMPBELL A M'DERMOT EDITORS AJCD PROPRIETORS. FRIDAY MOKMXti. DEC. IS. Grant'M Cool Reception |>y the Month ern Rebel*. General Grunt seems to have expe rienced rather a cool reception at the hands of the Soutbe/n rebels during his recent visit. A Charleston paper takes hatisfaction in saying that on his recent visit to that city he "was quietly re ceived by the military authorities. The negroes and Northern citizens turned out in considerable numbers to seo the General, but native Charlestonians all turned their faces persistently towards the business part of the city as the hour for his arrival approached. A few merchants, mostly 'Yankees,' invited the distinguished guest to a dinner at the Charleston Hotel, but he declined for want of time." The Savanuah Republican, in con cluding a description of Grant's recep- j tion in that city, says: "Thus ended the tame event of the season?the visit of Lieu tenant-General V. S. Grant to the commercial empori- j urn of G...

Howard's report of matters in the South, as carefully oliserved and written down daring his recent exten sive tour, will show ? very unsatisfac tory and. untrustworthy condition of public feeling in that unfortunate sec tion.
