TILE UNIVERSITY LAJiDS. The Eight Cents Minimum Hardship. The action of the state land board In fcxing the minimum price for the lease ot the university lands at eight cents per acre, the same as for the lree s.:bool lands, has worked a great TlQFfluKin amMintin(T n a t 'UfriiniTia . tion against the interests of the uDi- versity, and almost excluding the university Pinds from market, in competition with the free school lands. The latter beinz located in alternate sections, parties holding the intervening sections naturally seek the alternates adjoining them and will not lease the university lands as long as they are held by the state at the same minimum price of eight cents. Hence the unfairness of sub jecting the latter to the same arbitrary ml. Indeed, the Uuiversity seems to have been all along in need ot a cura tor before the board to represent its in'rjMts; especially as tbe univesity re?wT? no seem to be consulted in 8uchiy,Aers.
