Judge Baxter, of the United State Circuit Court, Iku rendered an important decision at Cincinnati, which-, if correct, bus an important bearing upon the a Moment and collection of taxes in this state, as wr it as others. The c?e was that of the Merchant's National bank, of Toledo. Ohio, against the County Treas urer. The laws of OUio. as do the lWS of Michigan, require that all assessments for taxation shaM be made at the actual cash value ; but the assessors of Ohio, like the supervisors ot tins state, do not obey the law. Real estate there being assessed at only about forty per cent of its real cis'n value. The sharps of the Merchant's National bank were assessed at their par cash value.
