LIFE AS IT REALLY IS [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 22 July 1910

LIFE AS IT REALLY IS Did it ever occur to you that a man’s life is full of crosses mid temptations? He comes into the world without his consent and goes out ngiiiust liis will, and the trip between is exceedingly rocky. The rule of contraries is one of the features of this trip. When he’s little, the big girls kiss him. when lie's Dig the little girls kiss him. It' he’s poor he's a bud malinger; if he’s rich, he’s dishonest. If he needs credit, he can’t get it; if he’s prosperous everyone wants to do Dim a favor. If he's in polities, it's for graft; if he's out of polities, he's no good to his country. Jf lie doesn't give to charity, he's a stingy mss; if he does, it’s for show. If he's actively religious. tic’s a hypocrite, and if ho takes no interest in religion, lie’s u hardened sinner. If he gives affection he’s a soft specimen; if lie cares for no one, lie's cold blooded. If he dies young, there was a great future for him; but if he lives to an old age. he missed li is calling....
